Rosie Echeverria was born and raised in East Hollywood, Los Angeles in a Central American immigrant household and she is a first-generation, low-income, EOP, DSP, Latinx, and LGBTQ+ student at UC Berkeley. She went to Santa Monica College (SMC) for about two and a half years then transferred and moved to UC Berkeley in Fall 2020, toward the beginning of the covid pandemic. She is a Political Science major with a minor in Public Policy and Education.

Her future career interest revolves around creating a K-12 education system and education equity in the U.S. that focuses on the strengths of students and their passions, as well as exposing them to the current events/injustices by implementing ethnic studies classes in hopes of creating a more socially conscious country. She is currently in DC for the Spring of 2022 for UCDC where she is interning with the Association of Latino Administrators and Superidentends (ALAS). She recognizes the need for perspectives like hers, rooted in personal experiences with poverty and immigration, to challenge popular notions within policy, political spaces, and education.
This summer, Rosie hopes to intern at a state or federal office that is interested in educational equity and helping students during this online
