Jacqueline Zuno (she/her)
Jacqueline Zuno is a first-generation Latina, majoring in Legal Studies and Political Economy. Her academic focus centers on the development of Latin America, shaped by her upbringing in the border between San Diego and Tijuana. Having navigated life and education in both regions, she brings a nuanced perspective to her studies.
Outside the classroom, Jacky is deeply passionate about empowering underrepresented communities. Over the past three years of her undergraduate journey, she has been actively involved with the Raíces Recruitment and Retention Center. In her capacity as a Recruitment and Development Coordinator, she guided high school seniors in navigating the college application process. She was also a lead organizer of Senior Weekend, one of
UC Berkeley admissions’ largest yield events, welcoming over 150 admitted Latine students from across California. Currently as the External Executive Director, she spearheads the center’s initiatives, providing support to programs, coordinators, and the intern/volunteer cohort that serves low-income, first-generation Latine students at Berkeley and beyond.
Jacky has also committed her time to JusticeCorps, where she diligently worked to offer legal assistance to self-represented litigants in Alameda County. As a university representative for the program, she actively promotes awareness of this impactful opportunity and supports new JusticeCorps members.
As she embarks on her final year at Cal, Jacky is eager to make the most of her remaining time here while preparing for her post-graduate future. She aspires to go to law school and find a career where she can give back to her communities.
