Bio/CV: 

Hildeberto Venegas is a fourth year transfer student majoring in Political Economy and minoring in Public Policy. He was born in Oaxaca, Mexico but grew up in Napa, California after his family decided to immigrate to the US in 2008. The hardships his family and community experienced during the Great Recession inspired him to learn about economics, with the goal of one day being able to help alleviate the challenges low-income and immigrant families face during financial downturns. Hildeberto is passionate about immigrant rights, immigration law, rights of senior citizens, financial literacy, and government transparency.

At Berkeley, he worked as an associate in the Department of Equity and Inclusivity in the office of the ASUC Transfer Representative. Additionally, he serves as a Peer Advisor for the Political Economy Department and also has worked as a mentor for prospective transfer students. Before attending Berkeley, Hildeberto worked for the Immigration Institute of the Bay Area where he performed many roles aimed at increasing the naturalization rates for eligible immigrants. Hildeberto intends to gain as much experience as possible to prepare him for a career in law and public service.
