Fiona Vogler

Job title:
Class of 2023
Department:
2023 Cal-in-Sacramento
2023 Diversity & Entrepreneurship Fellow
Bio/CV:

Fiona Vogler is a fourth year studying Geography, with a focus on economy, culture, and society, and Political Economy, with a concentration in development and globalization. Her upbringing in Oakland alongside a neurodivergent sibling who faced significant struggles in the public education system provided evidence of systemic neglect and violence towards minority populations. During the Spring 2022 semester, Fiona studied abroad in the Netherlands, whose infrastructure and social policy starkly contrasts that of the U.S. These experiences ultimately demonstrated the importance of advocacy and inspired her interest in public service. She is especially interested in environmental policy and its ability to address discrepancies in the resilience of built landscapes, especially in consideration of the increased frequency of extreme weather events.

Fiona is currently a Conservation and Technology Fellow in the Fung Fellowship, where she explores innovative applications of technology to myriad conservation issues. She is also a major peer advisor for the Political Economy Advising Department. This summer, Fiona hopes to expand her knowledge of public service and policy and looks forward to researching the barriers faced by women-of-color entrepreneurs in accessing capital and product innovation.
