Christina Velazquez Martinez is a first generation Latina from Laton, California. Growing up in Central California Christina became aware of educational spaces and opportunities to advance herself and her fellow community.


She currently is a 4th year student at UC Berkeley double majoring in Social Welfare and Educational Sciences. At Cal Christina is a facilitator of Muxeres Activas En Letras y Cambio Social (MALCS) since 2022. Creating syllabuses, leading discussion circles, and connecting first generation Latine, Afro-Latine, Indigenous, and gender non conforming folks in MALCS 1-2 unit support group. In addition, engaging every summer at MALCS Summer Institute with fellow womxn of color in academic and professional spaces outside of Western White Eurocentric materials.


Christina works as a College and Career Advisor with East Bay Solano Consortium (EBC) at Oakland Unified School District high school, Sojourner Truth Independent Study. With EBC she works with A-G eligible students and students interested in higher education access and apply for colleges and universities.
She aspires to devote her professional career to working with first generation students of color in college access retention and recruitment programs. Being an advocate for student wellness and thriving initiatives for holistic care.
