Celina Buncayo (She/Her)

Celina Buncayo is a first-generation Filipina immigrant and student at UC Berkeley majoring in Political Science. Celina is on the pre-law track to become an immigration attorney and public servant. Celina has conducted several qualitative research projects on issues affecting the youth and the Filipino American population. She is excited to pursue further research on public policy affecting women’s health this summer through the Jo Freeman Fellowship. Through research and community organizing, Celina is committed to uplifting and empowering underprivileged communities.

As a student who had to juggle multiple jobs on top of school and extracurriculars, Celina is driven to support fellow students of color and working class students. Celina has taken on roles in mentoring community college students in their university transfer process, tutoring college-level English, and advising high school students in conducting civic engagement efforts. She is passionate about increasing inclusivity and accessibility of higher education. Celina is beyond delighted to enter the realm of California Politics through the wonderful Cal-in-Sac program.
