Ella Jaravata

Job title:
Class of 2026
Department:
2025 Democracy Camp in Berkeley
Bio/CV:

Ella Jaravata is a third-year transfer student studying Political Science. From San Diego originally, she would like to pursue a public service career centered around advocating for environmental, labor and social justice policy. Her interest in politics was ignited in High School, creating a community garden and running a chapter of Sunrise Movement in her town. In the past two years, she was involved in local issues and advocacy through internships at the American Federation of Teachers labor union, UCSD Labor Center, and through running her community college environmental club. Currently she is focused on food justice, performing research on urban farms in the East Bay and being a Field Coordinator at the Berkeley Student Food Collective. Engaging in politics at a grassroots and local level thus far, Ella is curious in engaging with policy initiatives on a state level. She is passionate about how local politics can be a vehicle for change and drive progress on a federal level, as well as pushing the dialogue forward around issues such as labor and the environment.
