Joshua De Miguel (He/Him)
Joshua is a first-generation, junior transfer student. His interest in public service was sparked by his family, with his mom working as an EMT. From this grew a strong desire to also help communities directly, but through developing policy in the state legislature. Following a non traditional path, from a community where opportunities are limited, Cal in Sac is an exciting beacon of hope for him to not only prove himself and what he is capable of, but to more importantly learn from meaningful experiences to eventually give back in his home city of Hayward, California. Currently primarily interested in housing and labor rights, he seeks to advocate for tenants and unions, and learn more in these fields from direct experiences. On campus, he serves as Chief of Staff to the ASUC Transfer Representative and Hall Safety Ambassador for the University Housing Rights Organization. He is truly grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Cal in Sacramento program, looking forward to meeting his cohort and spending a summer actively learning and growing.
