Megan Chan

Job title:
Class of 2026
Department:
2025 Schaeffer Fellowship
Bio/CV:

Megan Chan is a third-year student at UC Berkeley studying Political Science with double minors in Public Policy and Conservation & Resource Studies. Her passions consist of education and environmental policy. Megan’s passions for these fields stem from her upbringing, as she witnessed early on the power of education to uplift and unify communities. Since arriving in Berkeley, she has delved deeper into climate spaces as well, recognizing that both subjects are heavily connected. Through her work and advocacy, she hopes to engage in work within the public sector that will shape our education system to become more climate resilient.

In the past, Megan has worked as an Associate Producer on Climate Break, a podcast within the Center for Law, Energy, and Environment at Berkeley, focused on producing short, accessible climate solutions for all to listen to. More recently, she served as a Policy Intern for the U.S. Department of Education in the Office of the Deputy Secretary. In her role, Megan was able to participate in projects strengthening our STEM curriculum for all students under the YOU Belong in STEM initiative through a series of external partnerships and policy work.

Megan is beyond grateful to have been selected as a Schaeffer Fellow and is excited to continue her journey in public service through this opportunity.
