Chelsea Kawamura (she/her)
Chelsea hopes to ensure that every student, regardless of background, has an equal opportunity to thrive in a dynamic learning environment where technological advancements are seamlessly integrated into educational frameworks.
In her involvement with the Student Policy Institute at Berkeley, Chelsea examined the impact of the digital divide on K-12 education. Her focus extended to proposing policies that leverage technology platforms to enrich the learning experience for students.
As a committed advocate for equity in STEM education, Chelsea actively contributes to narrowing the achievement gap, striving to enable students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds to foster a profound interest in STEM disciplines. During her high school years, she tutored various students in mathematics and science and aided in the development of an after-school STEAM curriculum that emphasized hands-on, inquiry-based learning approaches. In her current academic pursuits at Berkeley, Chelsea is a member of Berkeley Engineers and Mentors, delivering science and engineering lessons with fellow Berkeley students to engage and inspire local K-6 students.
